All About Mrs. Hosick
INTRO
Hello, my name is Colleen Hosick and I am a fifth grade teacher at Fairview Elementary. I have been teaching in the district since 1999. I have spent most of these years teaching either 4th or 5th grade. I am looking forward to my adventure with your child this year. I truly enjoy the interaction I have everyday with the students, staff, and parents of Bellevue Public Schools. If ever you need to reach me, you can contact the school at 402-827-5950, or email me at [email protected]
FAMILY
I grew up as a military dependent. We moved several times before I even started school. When we moved to the Offutt Community, I began Kindergarten. We were fortunate to remain stationed here for the remainder of my childhood. My dad is now retired from the USAF and also retired from a commerciaI airline as well. My mother is a real estate agent in the area, and I have two older sisters who live in Omaha. I am blessed to have family so close, and I enjoy seeing them and my nieces and nephews so often. I am married with a family of my own. My husband, Marc, owns a carpet cleaning business called Carpet-Pro. We live in Bellevue with our children Brooke, Tanner, and our silly dogs Betsy and Zoey. My step-son Kyle and his family live nearby, and I LOVE to visit with my Grandson Oliver at every opportunity!
MY EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
I graduated from Papillion-LaVista High School in 1993. I ventured out to Lincoln, NE to begin my college courses at UNL. After a few years, I decided to move back to Papillion and finish up my studies at UN-Omaha. I graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. I was fortunate to then get a position with Bellevue Public Schools. While teaching, I began a Masters program, and in June of 2002, I received a Masters degree from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts in Educational Technology. Over the course of my teaching career, I have additionally totaled over 36 credit hours beyond my Masters.
INTERESTS
When I am not teaching, I love to spend time with my family. My children are involved in several different sports and activities that keep us very busy. Whenever we can, we enjoy being outdoors (playing tennis, attending local, collegiate, and professional sporting events, and we love to head to the lake to go boating, swimming, skiing, etc.) I also enjoy working out and running when the weather permits. I am slow.... but I do enjoy participating in 5ks, 10ks, and have done a few half-marathons.
I look forward to getting to know you and your child throughout the course of this school year!
